McKendree Baker Men 2015

The Webber Men and Women bowled in the Mckendree Baker Challenge Tournament at St. Clair Bowling Center in O'Fallon, Illinois finishing 3rd for the Women and the Men winning the tournament January 25 and 26th.

After 40 rough baker qualification games the men's team entered the top 8 in 4th. They had to bowl number 5 seat St. Francis in the first round of match play. The men's team won this match 2-1 after losing the first game by 1 pin. This comeback turned the tournament around. They went on to beat the hosting team, and number one seat McKendree in a 3 game thriller. The reigning national champion, and number 2 seat, Lindenwood, was the opponent in the final match. The team excelled under the pressure and won the match 2-0. This was the third time that the Webber men's team wins this tournament.

The Women started out a little rocky during the qualifying matches the first day, but stayed together and finished 2nd for the first day of qualifying behind Wichita State Women. The Women still struggled the next day during qualifying and finished 3rd before entering into match play. The first match was Webber Women versus University of St. Francis, with the team who wins 2 of 3 games moves on to the next match. The Webber Women fought hard and defeated the University of St. Francis Women 2-0.  The Webber Women then moved on to bowl against Mckendree Women. The Webber Women bowled well, made spares, and fought hard, but fell slightly short
against the Mckendree Women, losing 0-2. Even though the Webber Women lost against Mckendree, the Webber Women learned some valuable lessons and are taking these lessons towards their preparation for sectionals and nationals.
